Expense Costs by Platform
Overview
Not every cost applies to every platform. This article explains which Expense Costs appear on which platforms so you know exactly what's being factored into each profit calculation.
Shared Platform Costs
Some costs are the same regardless of which platform you're selling on. These appear under Shared Platform Costs and apply across all platforms:
- COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)
Platform-Specific Expense Costs

Where Platform Fees Come From
Platform fees aren't sourced the same way on every platform:
- Shopify and Faire - you configure these fees yourself in Platform Settings, entering a percentage and/or a fixed amount for each fee. The calculator uses those values.
- Amazon - the Referral, FBA Fulfillment, Closing, and FBA Storage fees are synced automatically from Amazon (fee estimates from Amazon's API, plus the monthly storage report). You don't enter them by hand.
- TikTok Shop - the Marketplace Referral Fee is calculated automatically from the product's TikTok category, so it isn't entered manually either.
To review or adjust the fees you control, go to Platform Settings.
Custom Costs and Platforms
The table above lists the predefined Expense Costs. You can also create your own Expense Costs - and when you do, you choose which platforms each one applies to using Assign to Platforms. Custom costs can be moved between Expense Groups at any time with Reassign Expense Cost.
