Products, Linking & Master Products

Overview

Common questions about how your listings are grouped and edited across platforms.

What is a Master Product?

A Master Product is LinkSyncSell's unified record for a single item in your catalog. Every platform listing for that item (for example, a Shopify product, an Amazon ASIN, a TikTok Shop SKU, a Faire SKU) attaches to the same Master Product, so you manage one record and the system handles per-platform mapping for prices, inventory, status, and listing details.

How does auto-linking work?

During import, LinkSyncSell matches each listing's SKU against your existing Master Products. If it finds a match, the listing is attached to that Master Product. If no match is found, LinkSyncSell automatically creates a new Master Product for that listing. Listings that can't be grouped automatically - for example a listing with no SKU, or with a SKU that is duplicated - appear under Listings That Need Attention on the Link Products page so you can assign them yourself.

What if a product has no SKU, or different SKUs on different platforms?

The listing still gets attached to a Master Product: an existing one if any SKU matches, or a brand-new one if not. From the Link Products screen you can later reassign a listing to the correct Master Product to consolidate items with mismatched SKUs.

Why does the same product appear twice in my catalog?

This usually means two listings were grouped into separate Master Products instead of being linked together (for example because their SKUs differ). Go to Catalog > Link Products and reassign one of them so both sit under a single Master Product.

Can I edit a listing's details, or create a new listing, from LinkSyncSell?

Yes, in the Product Attribute Editor. Open the platform tab to edit a listing's title, description, images, and attributes, then Save & Post to [Platform] to push the changes to that platform. You can also click Create New Product to build a new listing. New listings are created one platform at a time; reuse the same SKU so LinkSyncSell auto-links them under one Master Product. Note that a brand-new listing (except on Amazon) is published in two steps - save it as a draft first, then set it to Active to post it live.

Can I have different titles, descriptions, or images per platform?

Yes. Open a platform's tab in the Product Attribute Editor and edit just that platform's details independently, which is useful for SEO, character limits, or a different voice per channel.

What is a Local Draft?

A Local Draft is a listing saved inside LinkSyncSell that has not been published to a platform yet. Local Drafts never push to any marketplace until you publish them.
