System Requirements & Prerequisites

Overview

Before you connect your first platform, there are a few things you'll want to have in place. This article walks through everything you need so your setup goes smoothly.

Prerequisites

There are no required prerequisites for this article - but reviewing this checklist before you begin will save you time during setup.

What You Need

Active seller accounts on the platforms you want to connect.

You'll need a live, active account on each platform you plan to connect. This means:

  • A Shopify store (must be on a paid Shopify plan that allows app integrations)
  • A Faire brand account (Faire is for wholesale sellers - you need a brand/seller account, not a retailer account)
  • An Amazon seller account (Individual or Professional seller account)
  • A TikTok Shop account (active TikTok Shop seller account)

You only need accounts for the platforms you actually sell on. You don't need all five.

Owner or Admin permissions on those platform accounts.

When you connect a platform, LinkSyncSell uses a process called OAuth to request access. OAuth requires that you authorize the connection as an owner or admin of that account. If you're not the account owner, you'll need to ask the owner to complete the connection step, or ask them to grant you admin access first.

A modern web browser.

LinkSyncSell works best in the latest versions of:

  • Google Chrome (recommended)
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Older browser versions may not display all features correctly. Keep your browser up to date for the best experience.

A stable internet connection.

LinkSyncSell is a web-based application. A reliable internet connection ensures syncs run correctly and your data stays current.

Wide screen

To ensure proper functionality and the best possible user experience, the application is optimized for screens with a minimum width of 768 px. Below this width, some system features may be unavailable or function improperly.

Consistent SKUs across your platforms.

This one is important. If you sell the same item on multiple platforms, that item should have the same SKU on every platform. For example, if your blue ceramic mug has SKU MUG-BLUE-001 on Shopify, it should also be MUG-BLUE-001 on Tiktok Shop and Amazon. Consistent SKUs allow LinkSyncSell to automatically link your listings together. See the section below for why this matters.

A LinkSyncSell account.

You'll need to have signed up for a Free or All Inclusive account at LinkSyncSell. If you haven't done that yet, sign up before continuing.

Why SKUs Matter

SKU stands for Stock Keeping Unit. It's the unique identifier you assign to each product and variant in your store. Think of it like a product's fingerprint - it should be unique to that item, and it should be the same everywhere you sell it.

Here's why this matters for LinkSyncSell:

When you connect your platforms, LinkSyncSell imports all your listings. To group the same product across different platforms into one Master Product, it looks at the SKU on each listing. If your Shopify listing and your Amazon listing both have the SKU MUG-BLUE-001, LinkSyncSell knows they're the same item and links them automatically.

If the SKUs don't match - or if one listing has no SKU at all - LinkSyncSell can't make that connection automatically. You'll need to link those products manually, which takes more time.

The bottom line: consistent SKUs across platforms means less work for you during setup and more accurate syncing going forward.

Tips & Notes

Tip: Before connecting your platforms, take 15 minutes to audit your SKUs. Open your product list on each platform and check that your SKUs are consistent. It's much easier to fix them before you import than after.

Troubleshooting

I don't have admin access to one of my platform accounts.

You'll need admin or owner-level access to authorize the connection during setup. Contact the account owner and ask them to either connect the platform themselves (through your LinkSyncSell account) or grant you admin permissions on that platform first.

I don't have SKUs set up on my listings yet.

You can still use LinkSyncSell - you'll just need to manually link your products during setup. Go to Catalog > Link Products and look for the "Listings that Need Attention" tab. From there, you can manually assign listings to a Master Product. We strongly recommend adding SKUs to your listings as soon as possible to take advantage of automatic linking going forward.

My platform account is on hold or deactivated.

Your platform account needs to be in good standing and active for the connection to work. Resolve any holds or issues with the platform directly before attempting to connect.

I'm not sure which plan I need.

If you're connecting 1 or 2 platforms, the Free plan covers you. If you need 3 or 4 platforms, or you want features like the Price Manager and Product Attribute Editor, you'll want the All Inclusive plan. See the Plans & Pricing article for details.
