Shopify - Creating a New Product Listing

Overview

Create a brand-new product listing for Shopify directly from LinkSyncSell. You don't need to log into your Shopify admin to do it.

Prerequisites

Shopify store connected in Connect Platforms
Active All Inclusive plan

Steps

Go to Catalog > Product Attribute Editor
Select the Shopify tab
Click the Create New Product button
Fill in the listing details.

The required ones are:

Product title
Description
Photos in the Product Media section
At least one variant with a price

You can also set:

Category and product type
Variant options (sizes, colors, etc.) in the Variants section
Compare At Price for each variant
SKU and inventory quantity for each variant

Choose how to save:

Save Local Draft (App) - saves the listing in LinkSyncSell only. The product is not created on Shopify yet.
Save Draft (Shopify) - creates the listing as a Draft in both LinkSyncSell and Shopify.

Once the listing exists as a Draft on Shopify, you can change its status to Active to make it live.

Note: New products must be saved as a Draft before they can be made Active. You cannot create a product and publish it live in a single step.

Note: For a new product, the "Save & Post to Shopify" button stays disabled until the listing exists on Shopify. Save it as a Draft on the platform first, then reopen it and switch the Status to Active to publish.

Tip: Give every new product a unique SKU before saving. This makes it easier to link the product across other platforms if you sell the same item on multiple channels.

Tips & Notes

Tip: Use "Save as Local Draft" to build out several new listings at your own pace. Then use "Save as Draft on Platform" when you're ready to push them to Shopify.

Note: Once a product is a Draft on Shopify, you can open it again in the Product Attribute Editor and change the Status to Active to publish it.

Troubleshooting

Create fails.

Check that all required Shopify fields are filled in. Shopify requires at minimum a product title and at least one variant with a price.

Product was saved but isn't in Shopify.

You likely used "Save as Local Draft." Use "Save as Draft on Platform" to send the product to Shopify.
